woooooot! you have no idea how happy i am that you have a new story. there are no words. i'm a big fan of your writing.

meredith is very apprehensive about the pregnancy, that is understandable. and it totally makes sense that she would take reassurance from a medical point of view - like having that doctor's appointment.

i love that part where Derek contemplates how he should tell stories to Sophia about Mark too.

looking forward to the next chappie. :)

Thank you so much! It makes me so happy to see comments like that since I've been MIA for a long time.

I can definitely understand why Meredith is so freaked out, and Derek isn't as much. He didn't know about the miscarriage until all the really hard parts of grieving were kind of over. And he wasn't the one who had the infertility problem. Plus he's a little bit more optimistic anyway.

I still think that one of the biggest core issues that the show has never dealt with is Derek having a dead dad. And not only that, but a dead dad who was killed suddenly and violently right in front of him. In a lot of ways, I still feel like 9 years in, we know very little about Derek.

Anyway, more to come soon! Thank you again for your kind words. I hope the next part lives up to expectations.

I'm so glad you're back with a new story, because I've always loved your writing. And I loved this, especially now, when I think MerDer still (again) are not getting enough screen time together to deal with all that's going on in their lives after the plane crash and the new baby on the way.
I loved the part about Derek wants to be there for Sofia because she's got a dead dad too. Sad, but sweet. I also love to see Zola in your fic, as I really miss her on the show these days :-)

Thanks for writing and sharing, I very much look forward to chapter 2.

Thank you for the warm welcome back! And yes, I completely agree that really rich MerDer storylines are being sacrificed to make room for BS. I think that the litmus test for the writers should be "Are people tuning in specifically for this?" Because I bet a very small minority cares about the interns or the Chief/Jackson's mom. Like we still know almost nothing about Alex?! After 9 years!?

And my obsession with how Derek's dead dad must affect him will continue a bit in this fic. Because, again, 9 years later and we know almost nothing about it.

More to come in a few days. The next chapter is getting a little bit bigger than I expected, but hopefully a slightly longer wait will be worth the trade-off.

I haven't logged into LJ for ages, but then I saw this in my inbox, so knew I had to read it. And I'm so glad I did, because it's perfect! Derek's promise to tell Sofia about Mark, Zozo's adorable toddler self, MerDer debating to find out the sex, and Meredith mentioning 'the kids,' because it's not just Zola anymore. I loved every word. If only we got to see more of these little glimpses into their family life on the show. Looking forward to more of this! :)

Thank you so much! I haven't been on LJ in forever either, but it didn't feel right not posting it here too. I'm glad this could lure you back, and that you enjoyed it.

I'm a big fan of little glimpses into their family life, and just quiet, honest moments between them. I've never been good at flashy, and I feel like the show does enough of that without me contributing to it.

More to come soon. The next chapter is about 2/3 done and it's already about 1,000 words longer than part 1. I hope to have it finished soon!
