Deck

Mah friend Dave would tell me I'm werkin' too hard, but the latest was I power washed the deck on top and underneath last Friday. It worked great underneath and got rid of all the old mold. Looks like new there. On the top it didn't remove the remnants of my "cheapo contractor's" bad deck staining job from last year, but today Katie and I ( Read more... )

My co-worker/mentor retired at the end of December; he came by today to check on all of us. He's been doing the same stuff around the house - he re-lanscaped the front yard, then the back, then the sides; all sorts of household projects. "I worked as hard retired as I did here, but I'm finally done. I think I may plan a trip..."

I looked at him, "David, we got 20 union increase notices in one day, your desk and computer are still there, hop to!" He said he needed to take the dog for a walk on the beach!!! The nerve of some people!!

Actually, I'm quite happy for him; he looks a million times better now that he's out of the nonsense around here. Relaxed, smiling, laughing, tanned, no watch, he even leaves his cell phone off for days at a time.

18 years and counting.......

Interesting. I started carrying my cell phone after I retired, but rarely get any calls. My Mom told me after she had been retired for 3 years that she didn't know how she ever found time for work. It's pretty funny.

18 years - shoot that will zoom by really fast!

I'm happy to hear you're keeping busy Tom!

I've got to do something about our deck one of these days... I don't think Holly will allow me to wait until I retire.

Yep I know all about those "honey-do" lists. My wife Katie has a long one for me. I've noticed that if I put stuff off long enough sometimes they just go away, or SHE does them! LOL

We need to do something with the deck on this house - I'd say we're about one season away from getting splinters in our toes :-/ And OH YES did I eat and drink a lot. Yay for all you can eat holiday barbeques!

Hooray for you! I'm glad you had a great holiday.

From the comments you've made, it sounds like this house of yours is in need of some TLC. It's funny how quickly the little things turn into big ticket items. Durn it all anyway.

Before we retired in 2002 a wise person told us that retirement was not for the faint of heart or lazy because you get busy with old projects and new.
Good luck Tom with selling your place. I take it you will have some time for camping too this summer????

Aha, the dreaded "Anonymous" poster. Yes, we're having time for camping, even made a run to El Paso and back with the camper to see youngest son off to Iraq.

Thanks for wishing us luck.
