I am definitely still here, though I haven't had much time for writing lately. I got a huge writing assignment from Jason, my sometime employer, and have been devoting my computer writing time to that. It makes me money ( Read more... )

Wait, has WW changed their program? Grrr. I don't want to have to buy all new materials!

Well, they kind of changed it. They've changed points calculations to be based on carbs/fiber/fat/protein. Calories are no longer used. It changed the way some foods are calculated, but it wasn't a significant difference. If the old points program worked for you, I don't see why you couldn't still use it.

As an experiment, I took a full week from November [under the old plan] and entered it exactly into a week later this month on the pointsplus tracker to see what happens to a very typical week for me.

The week I chose I used all my weekly allowance and all but one of my 13 activity points. It was a week in which I basically stayed the same weight wise [makes sense since I'm on Maintenance].

Result?

Even though I get 9 more daily points, 14 more weekly points and 5 additional activity points, the model week resulted in a pointsplus overage of 34 points.

Most of the overage appeared to be from alcohol. Seems like flawed new science when maybe they're only trying to promote moderation/abstinence by basically making shit up when it comes to pointsplus for booze.

I'm already 7 pluspoints over for this week yet have lost 1.5 pounds since my Monday weigh in day. Go figure.

My leader said something about how the new plan steers people toward whatever they're calling Filling Foods now (Power Foods or something?). That values have something to do with how hard the body works to digest complex carbs and protein vs. simple sugars and carbs. We'll see what happens at weigh in next week. I'm sort of plateau-ing, which is exceedingly lame at this point.

I would like to lose 1.5 pounds, kthx :)
