I am posting pics here instead of on facepalm. These are of my little encounter with the Brown Recluse in my garage...
These are in order... some don't look all that bad because they were all taken with my camera phone. I must also note that I cannot see this damn thing. It is located on the back of my leg on the hamstring. Right on the line of where a chair would be (prompting the theory that I was bitten when I sat down on the beast) - I can't sit down on anything properly as a result....
Time Line
(cleaned garage out most of the day Saturday. theory is i got this little guy on my jeans then)
(sometime late Saturday Night or Sunday Morning, I sat on him and he bit me)
(discovered a pain about sunrise Sunday)....
First pic - 12 hours after theoretical bite time.
28 hours after bite - you can clearly see the fang marks!
35 hours after bite - black line near corner is tape residue from bandage
49 hours after bite - the "evil cauliflower" (black circular line is doctors ink pen- to check spread)
59 hours after bite - the tape lines show the edge of the gauze bandage (you can see the swelling upward in this shot)
71 hours after bite - this is a view showing where it is on my leg with some scale to judge it by. the muscles all around he leg are swollen as well
72 hours after bite - notice the red swelling well outside of the doctors circle from the previous morning.
78 hours after bite - the tape lines show the edges of the 3x3 gauze, the doc's circle is over-run.
That is how it looked before covered up for the night....
I see doc in 7 hours to plan next round of treatment. The muscles in my leg are very sore and swollen, I am having some shortness of breath and dizziness. We have gotten great praise form the docs and even the scared pharmacist on how well we have done in home treatment, but it wont be enough. I am so glad we are not looking at the horror story pics usually found online for this bite, but i am also in a good deal of pain. I know it could still be worse if the MRSA fears the doc has should show up.
I really hate taking meds (especially "Super-Meds") so this is something I really don't want to repeat....
