The Onion, the best source of fake news online, is doing this 10-year anniversary thing where they look at the best stories from each year. Anyway, today is a look back at 2001, and I happened upon one of my favorite Onion stories ever. It is both amazingly funny and chillingly prophetic, given it was written in January 2001. Enjoy:

I haven't forgotten the train of thought I started last week. Despite its incessant rambling, it has barely scratched the surface. But anyway, this is just a fun aside, a headline with some passages from this weeks' Onion. I thought grad students especially would get a kick out of it

But I am getting way ahead of myself! Hold on a minute, slow down. I don't think I'm quite ready for that part yet, the part that's all mushy and gooey and happy and full of half-truth and doe eyes and all kinds of other sappy stuff. (Though I must say I intend to do a good job of making even that part cut a little more sharply
