Not a top ten list of reasons why best of the year/decade lists suck

I'm really getting sick of all top ten lists showing the best/worst of the past year or decade. I don't care what the author's opinion of the best/biggest/worst story/movie/event/funniest video/whatever of the year or decade. I cringe when I see them, and here is why

Sweet Flying Spaghetti Monster, yes. I keep hearing about top music from the last decade on the radio, and I know it's going to be bullcrap because so many of the bands I listen to don't get radio play, but are better than half the crap that does.

Exactly! These lists are such a narrow subset of what they are supposed to encompass that they are virtually worthless. Except for the person making up the list that gets to proclaim that all the stuff they like is the best.

But, but... I LOVE Cracked.com and "top somethingorother" lists are their whole concept.

I will say that there's clearly a difference between comedy writers doing comedy lists and bloggers doing self-important judgement calls though.

Cracked is its own entity. Though from what I understand the writers for the site are not exactly high quality professionals, so them keeping with the numbers list still sticks with the low effort/high payback theme.

But they are funny!
