I haven't much experience in this field, but from what I hear, this is what mothers-in-law do. Whether it's on purpose to try and debase the son's wife, I dunno, but if I was in your situation I would make my own stuff anyway!

I would of been upset too. It sucks when you're trying to plan something nice for somebody and you're excited and getting that feel good feeling about planning something for somebody else and your plans get fumbled. The aunt should of checked with YOU as the host to see what to bring and not with his mom.
