Who: Flynn,
notglitching, and anyone else who would be involved.
Where: Outlands
When: Now
What: Actions, reactions, attempting to reason.
Warnings: Probably some mind screwery. Attempts will be made to keep violence to a minimum.
There were various reasons for Flynn to delay committing to this plan of action, ranging from the belief that, despite everything, Tron, his friend, was still inside and imprisoning Rinzler would be imprisoning Tron, to memories of how little the saner version of this program liked being held against his will.
And yes, there was a lot in the situation which reminded him of the first time he'd met Tron. He was certain that, overrides or no, Rinzler's associations were unlikely to be better.
But disappearances were slowly, but definitely piling up, and he knew it wasn't Clu who'd caused them; not the one he'd met, at any rate.
That left, from the available data, rather few programs who might have done it.
And since Flynn was adamantly against destruction, or even forceful removal of the overrides on Rinzler's code - and supported in that by Tron, which was reassuring him way more than he could have said - the way that he could help protect the system was by separating Rinzler from the rest of the Grid.
Anon had given the idea as to how to try and bait him; if that failed, over time, Flynn had other ideas. But for now, he helped spread rumors which triangulated to a specific spot, and then set to work on the design for the labyrinth he had in mind.
A cell around the energy source. Surrounded with a labyrinth each pathway of which that started at the center led back to the center, or to dead ends. And, after a thick wall, a second tier of a labyrinth. Nobody ever should say that he underestimated Rinzler.
But trapping him wasn't enough. What Flynn wanted was to help his friend back, help Tron back to being free from what Clu had done to him. Free of the insanity. Free of the overrides, of the commands which violated one of the best programs he'd known, severed him from how he had been designed to be; one of the best designs of a program Kevin Flynn had ever seen, and he didn't hesitate to admit that, to himself or to others.
So he designed and prepared areas of the labyrinth where it would be... safer, if not quite safe, to talk with Rinzler. areas where the labyrinth walls were mirror-like, creating confusion of sight and sound that would give time of disorientation before he could attack.
And on top of it all, there would be a force field. So somebody from the air - as in, say, inside a recognizer - could watch what was going on. And help, if need be. And so that Tron... Rinzler wouldn't escape.
If Rinzler would at least consider some of what he might be told, Flynn knew that he might release him himself.
If he even showed up.
The coding was ready. The rest... they would see.
ooc: After the initial Rinzler tags, there will be a thread for the 'mirror' sections, where others can talk with Rinzler, and another thread for the 'team protagonist' to discuss what's happening. Which could be up in a recognizer, or in a watch spot outside the labyrinth, whatever.
Any subsequent rescue, etc., will likely be a separate post.
Also,
this, because
namesram's mun is amazing.
