not like father, not like son

01.01.00The brand new age that would shame the technology of yesteryear had finally arrived; global celebrations occurring ever since the night before were slowing down now as Hawaii would be the last as usual. However, San Francisco was ending their hooplas, that is, aside from the lofty apartment of college student, the computer nerd, Ed ( Read more... )

[OOC: kay. here's the gist:
it's jan 2000, Eds an 18yr old college student @ SoCal or wherever Flynn went *brain fail* - as his father proved to be a cheat, Ed wants to erase that association from him.

so. what's going on here is a possible idea that Eds has received a trial run/inquiry test on ENCOM's part to observe what potential candidates are capable of. Naturally, Eds knows a thing or two, but he's about to bargain more than what he hopes for as a possbility that he may be creating himself a Program & that he'll find the MCP, or at the fragmentational remains.

Hope this helps?]

[well, let's take a stab at this then-]

Patrol at this sector was usually boring, but Tis had pulled way too many strings to stay near the action - once in a while, she had to take the boring job, too.

She dutifully scanned the area in set intervals and listened to any possible warnings, but noth-

Wait.

Something was up and Tis tensed. There was definitely a signal of something approaching though she could not tell whether a friend or a foe or something else. She trained her senses on the entry point and readied her staff. If the incoming program was a malicious one, it was in for a nasty surprise. Tis took her job very seriously.

(internal note: Dilly may be his nickname on the outside world, but will serve function as his "good" Program)

Eddie was amazed, there was no doubt about that, however, he needed to build himself up as Dilly. Try to learn firsthand what this place was. Unbeknownst to him, this was the same place he had so oft dreamt of as a child.

>>START PROGRAM BUILD
PROGRAM NAME: DILLY

>ACCESS CLEARANCE . . . ALLOWED
>>WELCOME, DILLY.

. . . The Program's eyes opened to find himself within the Grid, not realizing he was being monitored by his User. "Whe...where am I?" he spoke, his slight English accent mingled with an electronic groove soon frightened him, causing his hand to slap upon his mouth, noticing the white wiring on him. Wow~ this is weird was his only thought as he began walking ( ... )

What in the Core Processor's main function...?

Tis looked somewhat dumbfounded as the Program appeared, changed and accessorized - she had never seen anything like that before. This thing certainly tried to masquerade as a local file and that certainly roused her suspicions.

Well, no point in wasting precious cycles. Gripping her staff firmly, Tis walked out from behind the boulder she was observing the newcomer from.

"Halt! This is Grid Security, identify yourself!"

The screen blipped with a red flashing notification that apparently, "DILLY" had already grabbed someone's attention. Fie.

>APPROACH SECURITY
>DO NOT HARASS
>ACKNOWLEDGE.

"Ac..acknowledged," he commented, his faint but clearly British accent piping up as he looked at the Grid Security individual coming his way, with a staff. NOT GOOD...OH NOT GOOD AT ALL, SIR! was screaming inside his head, but Dilly remained calmed, raising his hands in defense.

"I...I....I'm DILLY, I don't mean any harm, really!"
