Oh Jay. Your hatred for religion has got to be unhealthy.

Any religion that forces you to cut off ties with those of other faiths, hate others because of thier chosen profession, and berate those who make light of your faith can't be good for you.

When the primary teaching of ANY religion strays from INTOLERANCE, you let me know, and I'll jump on board. I love religion, because it's smart and could make sense if it was backed up by facts; religious fanatics ruin my view of religion, and my views on the subject are very healthy... Remember, religion discourages thinking, and if I am supposed to get all my answers from a book, scroll, text, stone, whatever, then I no longer require thinking, I can just turn to the book or scroll or doctrine? It's right there layed out for me. Allow me to consult my scientology alien electronic book or my bible for the answer to your statement... BRB.

Heh yeah now people are trying to force the scientology episode back on the air by boycotting MI:3 when it comes out. Think I'll join up.

I agree with your assesment of religions discouraging free thought. My grandmother was told not to read the Bible on her own as a child because she needed to be taught what it said. She still has not read the thing to this day. I just think you're a little fixated on the subject. That's all. Intolerant, if you will. :) I still love you though. I am not religious. I tried it out and found no satisfactory answers there. Scientology is fucking nuts. I did some research into it a while back, cause I thought it was interesting how people really believe in all these wacky things. L. Ron Hubbard even said that the best way to sell books is to create a religion.

i don't recall ever reading anywhere out of any religious book i've studied something saying "Don't think for yourself." You guys are getting the people doing the teaching confused with the teachings. Religions can be used just as easily for spiritual guidance, hope, compassion, and understanding as they can be used for "the answers" that seem to be the center of fixation here. They can be misused and misinterpreted and even have parts that make no sense logically, but they can also be a strong source of moral guidance ( ... )

I agree that religion is definately a source of inspiration... I take it a step further to say that religion, throughout history, has inspired science, art, music, and countless other great things, and will continue to, with me watching and waiting to see... What I meant by discouraging thinking was that truth, in the form of absolute truth, i.e. there is but one God (for those monotheistic religions), is defined explicitly in their dogmas. As a follower are you not supposed to follow that dogma to the letter (although impossible)? In that sense, I believe that the thinking that is done or should be done involves thinking about what the doctrine/dogma says you should do, be, etc... Yes, faith is used for spiritual guidance, hope, compassion, and understanding, as well as other answers, but level of truth is associated with that? I mean I have faith, it just comes from the endless search for that absolute truth, and realizing that there one day that truth might be explained with undeniable evidence... I'm not willing to put all my ( ... )

Ok, who would you pick in a fight? Allah or Zeus. My first intinct is to go with Zeus, naturally, for he can hurl about lightning bolts every which way. But then I think, I dunno, maybe Allah has some crazy shit we don't even know about. Maybe he could shoot lasers *pew pew* out of his eyes and shit. But when you factor in that Zeus has a whole truckload of homies at his back, I mean who has Allah's back. Muhammad Ali, that's who. That's a weird name ... Muhammad ... MOO HOM ADD. Hmmm.
