My first response would be to skip the Dell. I love my Toshiba, so I'll say nice things about them. I hear one of the best out there is from AlienWare and NewEgg, but those tend to be pricer. Still, I hear they're one of the best out there.
You should come over and watch Young Frankenstien sometime soon. And then you can see the Shoebox, too.
Mac....just go with the Mac, Geeners. They never break, they don't get viruses, and they're just plain awesome! And god fobid something did happen to it? Take it to the nearest Apple store and they fix it...same day!
And as for Dell's.....every one of my friends who has had one had it for the 2 years, and 3 weeks after the warranty expired, they died.....or things went TERRIBLY wrong with them.
So in conclusion.......Apple is the way to go...=)
Speaking as a tech support person: No Dell. No no no no no. Never, ever Dell. Acer, HP, or Toshiba are the ones to go for. Also, buy from Newegg, NOT a store- you'll get MUCH MUCH better prices. And try to get Windows XP, Vista is having serious compatability and instability issues (big surprise). IF you want a mac, which I mean it's cool if you do, that'd be good too. But macs aren't for everyone. I know I can't use em, personally. But that doesn't mean they're bad. Dells are bad.
