I think I'm about to go nuts, though. It's not enough for the Librarians to say "We're handling it." There needs to be consequences for people that are public, both so any remaining emotion can be put away on the part of the ... well, victim sounds so innocent; on the part of the community, and to dissuade others from doing stupid, illegal things.

Admittedly, I've lobbied for this before and never got anywhere with it. Back in the 18th century there was talk of a sort of sheriff, but then I went and got blown in half in Egypt by a cannonball and never heard what came of that discussion.
