Been a while
Hmmm, not sure if I have a Tom but definitely a Dick and Harry. Lise and I saw Harry Potter in 3D at the IMAX Waterloo three weeks ago. Effects were amazing although I'm still not sure I don't prefer to see films in 2D in general. Read all the books and seen all the films though not quite the addict that I know some of you are. Feel like the kids have grown up on screen but we had to stifle a snigger at the end at some of the "ageing". Nice to see Neville have his day and yes a few tears were brushed away in certain scenes.
As for a Dick, last Tuesday I went to the Old Vic to see Kevin Spacey's Richard III. I make no bones about my Kev love so, despite Dick III being one of Shakespeare's heavier numbers (I've only previously seen the Olivier movie) I had to give it a whirl, all three hours twenty minutes of it! Part of The Bridge Project which brings American actors over here then tours the play around the world it was in general successful though some of the Amercians in smaller parts did tend to get a bit shouty and difficult to follow when the plot got going. Gemma Jones as Margaret, Chuck Iwuji as the Duke of Buckingham and Haydn Gwynne as Queen Elizabeth were stand outs and Kev played a blinder. Leg in a brace and leaning on a stick he definitely had the hump and threw himself into a very physical role. I won't spoil the final scene in case anybody gets a chance to see it (it's sold out in London) but it was quite dramatic.
Trying to think of any films I've seen at work. The Martin Sheen film The Way was very good about a bereaved father setting off along the Camino-De-Santiago, the 800km pilgrims walk from France to Spain. Lise and I were all for doing it by the interval but after a sit down and a glass of wine we came to our senses. Worth looking out for when it comes on TV.
Saw the Benedict Cumberbatch Frankenstein live via satellite too which was amazing (almost as good as being at the National Theatre).
I'm sure there are lots more but my mind's gone a blank. Hope there are still a few of you out there in LJ land!;)
