Dude,

That sucks beyond all suckitude. The e-mail I just sent you will be eerily appropos, but I sent it before I saw this post.

Sweetie and I will be in PDX the weekend of February 12-13, I think it's time to reinstitute happy hour! (But on Saturday night, since we won't be in town until super duper late on Friday).

Sounds great! Something to wash down the pill you sent.

Thanks, doc!

Oh man that is lame. I cannot understand what the #* they're thinking. We both wish you the best though. If only it'd happened earlier you could have applied for a position were I work. Anyway - that really sucks and I hope you'll get to use the orange circles on my map.

Well, we have about a year for this to all shake out. The CNIC building in Salem isn't even completed yet (they just broke ground this fall). A lot can happen in a year. Especially considering the past several state CIOs (whom also acts as the director of the division) have had tenures of 12-18 months. The current guy has been in there more than a year now. What concerns me is that stuff like this has a lot of inertia once it gets going. So even if this guy is on his way out, that might not prevent this stupid thing from happening.

I'm not exactly cleaning out my desk just yet, but you can damn well bet I'm making sure my resume is up-to-date and I'm going into networking mode again for the first time in too many years.
