Not that you'll see this before I call you, but you could have called. I was up 'til 3am reading our friend Feynman. He's an interesting fellow. I'm about halfway through!

erm, I'm not sure how you repartitioned your hd, but it shouldn't work the way you're describing it. When I've repartioned a Win2000 HD (NTFS) it doesn't screw with the current OS installation or any written files and Windows doesn't really mind that half its space suddenly goes completely missing.

What I think went wrong is your bootloader (Lilo, or grub) wasn't set properly and so it's trying to boot from your recovery partition. Yes, I'm assuming your computer has a recovery partition, but I assume this because I had the same problem awhile back. Anywho, if that's the case, simply reroute your bootloader to the right partition and things should run fine.

The real answer here is obvious. The binary troops charging for Windows are the evil army and must be sacrificed. Abandon Windows, it's an evil, horribly set up piece of shit operating system. It sucks. Linux is of course what rocks the world, but without and emulator you can't work with those little windows programs that make life a little easier. the solution is of course to come to the cult of mac. Yes, join us, we are the dark side. We have cookies. We make the best consumer computers out there.

Seriously, I am running on a macbook now, and it's the best computer I've ever had. I even sold that desktop I had with the two monitors because this laptop is sweeter than all the other machines I've owned. It's easy, fun, and the user interface is designed to make sense for a change. I didn't realize how much that was so until I started really learning how to use it. Now I don't want to go back.

I'm working on that. I'm looking at getting a Macbook Pro and tossing BootCamp on it, but I've got to wait until I have money, and since I'm going to Russia in April, that won't be for a while...
