I used to get that a lot from various officers. It was generally assumed that I was enlisted because I wasn't smart or educated enough to be an officer. The thought that I just had no wish to be an officer often never occured to them. Who would want that job? At least as an enlisted person, I got to do some actual work. All they ever do is go to meetings and babysit people.
