Hey there - I saw you in the nursing comm. Congrats on your NICU job! I'm trying to get into nursing school now, so I'm just starting the process :) I'm still not sure which spec area I want to go into, but I admire people who can work NICU.
for some odd reason, you popped into my head recently. I decided it would be a good idea to look you up. there you are! I'm sorry that we lost track after you moved to CO. I openly claim to have been a bad friend, but we figured that would happen anyway. despite my lack of contact all this time, I have missed you from time to time and wondered how you were doing. congrats on being a nurse!
well, it wasn't easy at first. you weren't in any of the people search engines. so I just did web searches for your name and found your geocities page and discovered you were on LJ through that. I was so happy to find you again! I'd been thinking about you lately and wondered if I'd actually be able to find you this time. and there you are! yay!
So I clicked on your profile - because I've apparently now become some crazy nurse stalker. Who knew? No, seriously, the Joss Whedon? Come on... Then your profile made me cry.
Because my daughter and I worked for three summers at a burn camp in Washington state. I was a classroom teacher for 18 years and had a chance to live up at the camp one summer and did it and we both loved it. Those kids ... oh man, very special to me.
And then I got married again. And now I have a very sweet baby. In addition to my 12-year-old daughter. And you like babies! And Firefly!
I know - I was just reading through some of the comments on here and was thinking, "Ding, Ding, there's another one!"
Yep, the Army decided that I, the pregnant wife with the pre-adolescent daughter, should live in Fairbanks while my husband is in Iraq. I'm sure there was a logic there. We love it up here, but it is remote and I've never lived anywhere where the outdoors can kill you in under 5 minutes before. Not to mention the moose. But the people are wonderful. And the climate is nice and dry - so I've had really good hair for the last two years. Northern Lights are gorgeous.
My preference would probably be to live in Anchorage. Not quite as ... climatically terrifying. And, in my opinion, it's prettier. But I'm from Seattle - so I really love snow-capped peaks and shiny water - which Anchorage has.
So see - who knew that a Mod post saying "Don't Feed the Mods!" would cause me to befriend a mod??? I feel so guilty now. Sort of. But not really. Because I'm not scary.
I don't know you, but I clicked on your name in an entry from one of my LJ-friends and thought your profile looked interesting. Mind if I add you? I'm a RN too, have been so for almost three years. I'm currently working as a travel nurse and I love it!
