That woman sounds really special, and I'm glad you got to spend time with her, and that she reminded you of your grandma. I love the "You can call me Grandma!" line...that's so awesome!!! I love spunky elderly people!! I'm glad you feel like your grandma would be proud of you...

I also love the description of the "midwestern old lady perm"...

As a total aside...I'm giggling at the idea of "John's freaked out" at the idea of you eating bland food...ROFL, it's not THAT torturous, is it? Does he love his hot sauce?!!! In any case, I hope the diet is effective...

No, John is just one of those people who doesn't understand that you're not going to STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARVE if you don't eat for a few days. Poor John. I guess I have that med surg "you don't need to eat" mentality happening.

That lady is great. I really just wish my grandma was still here, although she'd be 94, she'd still be my incredible grandma. Thank you.

My grandma and I are kindred spirits, so I can relate to what you mean. She's my last living grandparent, and she's got about 1000 stents in her heart, so I feel very blessed that she'll be meeting Dan for the first time next week. I love special connections like that with patients.

I hope you feel better soon.

My grandma changed my bandages when I was a little kid, and she really wanted me to go to nursing school. She also wanted me to have a good life... erm.. and to vote Republican. I'm doing almost all of those things.

This brought tears to my eyes... my Gramma died when I was thirteen-- she helped raised me with my Dad because my mom was frequently in the hospital. She lived with me and my family for my whole life. Losing her was seemingly impossible... But I feel the same way. I dream about her still, and I will always love her. I feel her presence all the time. I am sure your Grandma is with you still.

Thank you. It's been 9 years and I still can't believe she's not around. I miss her so much. My Grandma helped raise me and change my bandages when I was burned when I was 10. I just wish I could see her one more time.
