Trouble Brewing (for jelani)

The message to Jelani comes through a wee bit garbled, because he's using a voice-activated function. It starts out with assorted swear words and heavy breathing, but it's not an obscene phone call, and she may recognize his voice as it goes on

The message comes just as Jelani is finishing her breakfast. She pushes the button to play the message, and then sits completely still as she listens to it, her nearly empty cup of black coffee half-way raised. She remains still for a few seconds after the message has ended, and then? Then a grin stretches over her face

The place she lands in looks more or less like a health food store, which may be disappointing. There are bins of vegetables and fruits, shelves lined with dry-goods packages displaying various terrestrial languages, and dried herbs hanging in bundles from the ceiling. Balthazar isn't immediately visible, but his voice floats from the back room. "...not as much cash on me as I'd like, given how I was woken out of a sound sleep, but you know I'm good for it

"And I didn't even bring th' big guns!" She grins at him and then looks him over. "Nice PJ's."

The woman catches her attention. Ooooh, pretty thing. Lovely eyes. "Oh, I won't as long as I don't have a good reason to!" Her smile might be a tad too friendly to be completely real. Just a tad.

Okay, time to get serious. Business-mode on. "Okay, so what's th' deal here? What, where and how bad?"

Balthazar rolls his eyes and limps over to her, eyeing the weapons with interest. He's actually not much of an arms expert, but he's had to pick up a few things. "How big are the big guns? Nevermind, I don't want to know. What comes out of that thing?" He gestures at the plasma gun, intrigued
