I feel like ranting about a movie here, so here I go!
I was on the message boards on IMDB for The Pursuit of Happyness, and it is astonishing at the number of posts by people who are completely unsympathetic about the situation the protagonist is in. Here is a synopsis of the movie:

I didn't know he made $1000/month in training. But, NYC was super expensive. He could have scraped by in some awful slummy part of the city back then. NYC might still be super expensive but it seems everyone lives there somewhere these days and that much of it was improved.
Money won't give you happiness, but it makes you happier in some ways. Happy contentment takes money, sex, love, belonging, career (or purpose), and integrity to achieve. Money alone won't do that. Which is pretty sad when you think of it, because most people have almost none of that, and I have maybe one of those...slightly. No wonder the world is so unhappy these days.
