Fairy-Tale Character: Griselda.
Fairy-Tale: Griselda.
Abilities: None.
personality
First Impression: The perfect wife and mother.
The Woman: Take three cups of sugar, two cups of spice, and dump it into a bucket of nice, and perhaps then you'll begin to scratch the surface of Lexi's personality. She's undeniably sweet to almost everyone she meets, because she believes in giving people fair chances no matter what packaging they come in. Lexi's known to keep a cool head in most situations, and does a fairly good job being objective, both in situations involving her and those involving her friends. She often wishes this were not the case, as she wishes she could sometimes just be angry at someone without instinctively putting herself in their shoes and reasoning things out. Lexi's objectivity, while a gift to her friends, is often a curse to her, and she certainly doesn't thank her tale for it.
Along with her objectivity, loyalty is one of Lexi's defining aspects. Many people call themselves loyal to the ones they love, but Lexi's tale inclines her to stick by her friends and loved ones to the point of stupidity. Thankfully her good head for reason makes it easy for her to understand her mistake as long as someone is willing to explain it to her. Lexi's tendency to find a logical explanation behind the actions that hurt her and to stick by them anyway make her more or less a pushover. But explaining someone's actions doesn't make her forget them, and is by no means a free pass to walk all over her in any way you choose. Lexi is essentially a camel's back waiting to be broken, and nobody knows who'll end up being that last straw.
The strongest and most apparent quality of Lexi's is her endless capacity to love. She has a big heart and a warm smile, which makes her a great mother and a good wife. Even though she's more than spoken for in the romantic department, Lexi is never rude or condescending to other men (it goes back to her basic belief of being nice to everybody). Her faithfulness to her family has never waivered, and unless her marriage drastically goes south, never will.
The Tale:Lexi and Griselda are a love-hate relationship at its best. Lexi loves the fact that Griselda gives her the capacity for endless love, but she hates the pushover Griselda makes her. Even the loyalty she can handle, as long as it doesn't lead to people taking advantage of her. Lexi just doesn't want to end up stuck on a thankless road, bound their by that unwavering faith. Life hasn't thrown that particular curve ball her way yet, but she's afraid of repeating her past and becoming that 'loyal fool' once again. It is that very fear that motivates Lexi to assert herself and have an identity of her own, apart from simply wife and mother.
The one thing Lexi is grateful for in all this is her upbringing. Having had a supportive family who encouraged her to reach for every dream gave Lexi the semblance of a spine. She isn't quite as passive as Griselda was, and insists that if Jonathan ever treats her the way the old king did, she would leave him in a heartbeat.
background
Spouse: Jonathan Stone (
alwaysafather)
Children: Alexander Stone (five), Ella Stone (three)
History: Imagine a scene from the perfect American life - a white house with blue shutters in a suburban neighborhood, two children playing on the front lawn, parents on a porch swing shouting encouragement to the kids, and a sweet and wrinkled grandmother, knitting in her rocking chair. This was a classic summer evening from Lexi Dunham's perfect life. She had been blessed in every way imaginable - she was pretty, smart, and talented, and had a loving family that loved and supported her. Lexi might have found her family uninteresting at times, but she was always grateful - especially when she saw the families of several of her friends crumbling before her eyes. Growing up with such strong roots left Lexi convinced that there was very little in this world as important as one's family, and she vowed to show her future children and husband the same love and care her parents had shown her.
The future was closer than Lexi had anticipated it would be. She had noticed Jonathan Stone her freshman year; he was gorgeous, popular, intelligent, and completely impossible to ignore. They never spoke, since they ran in different circles - him with his student government and basketball jocks, and her with her art geeks. But by some stroke of fate, the two were in the same AP chemistry class junior year, and were designated as lab partners. It didn't take long for Jon's charm to win Lexi over, and she was head over heels in love with the boy before she knew it.
Lexi and Jonathan went through the ups and downs of every high school relationship, but everybody knew they were destined to be together. The couple even avoided the usual college separation issue by picking RISD and Brown as their schools and thus being able to stay in the same city. Freshman year was difficult, since their dorms were fairly far apart, but they stuck it out and finally move in together their junior year. Lexi's perfect life was going down its perfect path, and she couldn't have been happier for it.
Lexi had started having strange dreams about some old princess the day she met Jonathan, but they tended to fade away when she woke up. It was mostly bits and pieces of some unknown story, usually brought on when their relationship took a large step forward. She dreamed her entire tale the first night she spent with Jonathan in their apartment, and a crabby man paid her a visit later that week to explain everything too her. Being sworn to secrecy was extremely difficult for Lexi, who wanted nothing more than to share this wonderful new part of her life with Jonathan. It took her time, but eventually Lexi was able to make peace with the fact that there would just be a small part of her life he could never know about.
With graduation came the next test in Lexi and Jonathan's relationship. He moved to DC for his career, and she moved back home for a bit. She would have been utterly miserable those four months had she not made friends with Gray Adams, a girl two years older than her who quickly became her best friend. Jonathan's move to Oregon coincided with Lexi's first job at an architecture firm in Chicago, and she went in actually looking forward to a brand new city. Unfortunately Lexi wasn't built to survive in an unknown atmosphere, and she spent those painful eight months lonely and homesick for her boyfriend and her best friend. She quit her job the day the campaign ended, and hurried back to New York to be with Jonathan once again. Lexi joined a reputable firm in Manhattan, Jonathan began to settle down, and life was back on track once again.
The day Jonathan told her he was a tale was one of the happiest in her life. She was delighted to finally show him the world she had been dying to share with him, and was convinced at this point that he would be the man she married. Sure enough, he proposed to her when they were twenty-five, and the pair were married in a beautiful ceremony back home in White Plains. Two years later, Lexi gave birth to their son Alexander Stone, who was followed in another two years by their daughter Ella Stone. Now that their children are at the age where they have extra-curricular activities and keep their parents constantly occupied, Lexi and Jonathan are certain they don't need any more children.
