I'm currently in a group, in the year-and-change (iirc) that I've been in it, we've done an urban horror (monster-hunters kinda thing) campaign and a high-fantasy (more or less) campaign, and we're about to do Total Weirdness (my first shot at GMing--Dreamverse!), then back to the urban horror. None of these are in any way media-based, though I think they may be based at least partly on packaged campaigns. Except mine, which is based wholely on my fevered imagination. (giant rubber duckie, tap dancing paper mache skeletons, monkeys in bathrobes...)
