doctor_donna. Prompt was "perfect".
"It's beautiful!" Donna breathed, looking at the shimmering statue in front of her. The Doctor smiled at her reaction. The statue was carved out of glittering emeralds and shining rubies. On the planet they had landed on, what were considered to be precious gems on Earth could be found lying on the ground, more common than dirt.
"Come on," he said, "I thought you wanted to take a look at the shops."
"Right," she said, tearing her eyes from the statue, "Don't just stand there, alien boy! Let's get going!"
The Doctor smiled and followed after her. The city they were in was built on a hill, with the more common people located nearer to the base, rising in wealth and power as one approached the summit. Donna was busy looking at all the glittering jewels contained within the nearby stalls.
"I want to go check something," he told her, "I won't be long."
"You say that, but then you end up ticking off some royal ambassador or something and we spend the next ten hours running."
"No running this time, promise!" he said, before heading further up the hill.
Six hours and a foiled assassination attempt later, the Doctor and Donna were back safely on the TARDIS.
"So," Donna said, "Why did you go running off in the first place?"
"Running off?" the Doctor said, flicking a couple more switches on the console, "I didn't go running off, I just - oh! Right!" He smiled as he remembered, and began fumbling in his pockets, eventually managing to pull out a small diamond box. He held it out to her. "Here you are then! Had it made special!"
She took the box, and looked it over, toying with his anticipation.
"Come on! Open it!" he said.
"Oh alright then, calm down!" She clicked open the latch, opening the box. Inside it was a very earthy looking chain, containing a single pendant. The pendant was clear and filled with dirt, and writing was inscribed on it. "What does it say?" she asked, peering closer at it.
"It says 'Donna Noble, more precious than the much sought rock.' Do you like it?" he asked nervously.
She threw her arms around him in response, "Doctor, it's perfect!"

Years later, Donna was digging about her jewelry box, trying to find something that would go with the outfit she had chosen. She stumbled across a pendant, just a scratched up glass tube, filled with dirt.
"What on earth do I have this for," she wondered aloud. She thought about throwing it away, but something stopped her. Instead, it was tossed in with the rest of her stuff. Nothing important.
