doctor_donna, prompt was 'edge'. I seem to be on a bit of an depressing streak...
She stands on the edge of consciousness, right where dreams seem like reality and reality like dreams. She can feel the turn of the universe, the waves of time. There's a man. He's tall and skinny, except when he's not. His face changes, but he stays the same. Him and his blue box. Forever. From the beginning till the end. She stands with him and is part of him. He's her best friend and they explore it all together. There's anger and joy and pain and laughter. As they fall through space and time, she's happier than she's ever been. She smiles and holds his hand, then it's all ripped away. She's falling so far and so fast and she's all alone. The cosmos surrounding her are swirling and shrinking and everything hurts. It's all crushed inside her head and it's burning!
Her eyes snap open and she sits upright. She's in her room, and there's nothing in her head. It's minutes before her alarm is set to go off, so she gets out of bed and gets ready for the day. The dream slips away as she carries on her normal life. Alone.
