Mitt Romney campaign - friggin telemarketers

Feb 05, 2008 13:00

I am BEYOND pissed off.

Stupid Mitt Romney telemarketers have been calling me - on my cell phone, which is my only phone - for WEEKS.  And I've been crazy enough to answer (five times), in hopes that they'll take me off their calling list.

Alas, it appears that there are multiple telemarketing companies calling for Mitt Romney's campaign.

It never ( Read more... )

Ask to speak with their supervisors IMMEDIATELY. Be nice but firm. Also advise them that they are calling a cell phone and demand they remove your number from their list.

The problem is that a lot of these services are using an automated dialing system to place their calls. We are unlisted and are getting a few of those because they are not following a list, just mechanically calling the next sequential number.

Which is why being on a do not call list does you no good.

Does your phone give you back their phone number? If it doe that might be able to be traced by the BBB.

Exactly

We don't have Caller ID. But my folks do, and usually when they get calls from telemarketers, all it shows is "Unknown caller" or "Long-distance" or something vague like that.

If you can get the number, some on-line lookups (put the number into google) will tell you what company is calling, even if it isn't a personal number.

I share your frustration.

You think it's bad in Wisconsin. Hah! All my friends down here in Iowa were deluged by call-after-call-after-call leading up to the state caucuses. As in, most of their phones were ringing more than 50% of any given evening.

I had a cell phone with an out-of-state area code. La la la. No calls for me. I think many folks down here will be following my example and buying out-of-state pre-paid phones next election cycle.

i've only gotten one so far (obama campaign), and i told them it was a cell phone, got a little song and dance about they are just given numbers, reiterated firmly that this is a cell phone and they got the hint, no calls since. but if the romney campaign has multiple call centers going it won't be stopped in time. i was a little peeved i had gotten one, 11 would about push me over the edge.

and the do not call lists don't apply to politicians, for some reason they exempted their campaigns from being covered by the do not call lists.....how convenient.

Sales versus protected free speech, I imagine.

But look at it this way: every call to you is a $.50 expense drain on the campaign. I figure every time I see any ad or promotional widget from a candidate I don't support, that's good money after bad.

Thanks for the suggestions... but the number comes up as 000-000-0000. some of the goobers wouldn't transfer me to their supervisor, and none of them would identify the company.

It's definitely an auto-dialer.

Oddly enough, I live in WI but my cell is still 612 area code - but I still get calls.

Of course. They don't know where you live, they're just calling MN numbers. It should drop off after today when MN's caucuses are over.
