I think the creepiest part is how they intersperse the "playing with cat" happy scenes with twitching closeups of the endoskeleton, all with perky music playing in the background.

Read a thoroughly depressing article recently about how senior citizens in Japan are being given robotic pets so that they have some kind of reason to live. Very scary.
