If everything could ever feel this real forever

It's so hard to think about where you've been sometimes, based on where you are. It's weird putting yourself back in the mindset of a place that seems so far away that it might be almost difficult to figure out. But the point of a journal sometimes seems to be either to type about shit that's happening now, or what happened then, that you still ( Read more... )

I'm at a point right now where I am am learning that losing a relationship is probably the best thing that ever happened to me. Maybe we could name this the Phil Collins syndrome.

I love hearing about your processes. Will we ever know the truth? That's a great album from Phil, his best, but that goes without saying.

I agree. I think he did a lot more interesting work with Genesis but face value has that feeling about it where you just have to sit down and listen to the whole thing.

Sometimes, too, it's about needing things from a person at a certain moment in life, and then not needing those things down the line. That's what I learned from my marriage, and subsequent friendship, with Chris. When we met, I was a broken down shell of myself and he came in like water and smoothed in all the holes and bumps. Ten years later, and he's the one with holes and bumps, but I am not the water he needed. The things I have that were so attractive to him at first are not the things he needs now in his life. And that is okay. It isn't that I am somehow deficient, but some times two people don't fit together in the same way and moving on is, however painful, the best thing.

That's such a perfect way of looking at things. It makes complete sense. It's sad in a weird way, but at the same time it just kind of fits all together.

The longer I live the more I wonder if people were meant to be together for the long haul, or just to fill certain needs at a certain time of their life.

Sometimes, sometimes people are meant to be together for the long haul. But it happens less and less as time goes on, I think.
