If a given Urban White Guy Comic is not significantly different than Flight of the Conchord's song Inner City Pressure, it's probably not worth reading.
The comic writes I can name off the top of my head are Gaiman, Ellis and Moore. They're all middle-aged white men.
The only other comic book writer I can name is Brian K Vaughn, who is a middle-aged white man, too. Although I think Vaughn is a good example of someone who subverts what Greg's talking about above. In his graphic novel Y, he takes the story of Yorick, a restless, aimless young white male who through the death of all other guys on earth has actually become the most important man alive, and slowly makes clear through the evolution of his awesome female characters that Yorick isn't really important after all.

I need to start reading actual books again.
