If the person you are referring to is me, then I really must interrupt you, for I feel it is my duty as the opposing view to tell you that your "kickass" reply really wasn't that kickass. A grad student? You could have done better

Check the date, darlin' - that was three days ago. You need not flatter yourself. Yes, I could have done better, but it's not worth that much effort. Furthermore, as I mentioned, I deleted the comment - as you've done with mine - so I had to "seek out" your journal to reply. "Seek out," of course, being the hugely time-consuming task of clicking on a single link.
"What makes you think I care if you think the picture is a joke? What makes you think anyone gives a damn about your opinion?" Because you took the time to type out a long rebuttal in answer? Therefore and ergo, you obviously gave enough of a damn not only to respond... Uh, nope, still wrong. I DO NOT give a damn for your opinion, then or now. I DO NOT care if you think the picture is a total joke, then or now. The reason I replied and posted is because I am curious as to why you thought I cared. I do not care what you think about the post. I would like to know why you felt it necessary to reply, that's all

I apologize in advance for being one of Those People (oh, you're from New Zealand? Do you know my friend Jane?) but I don't suppose you ever knew a Brandon Thomas? He's about the same age as you and also from North Carolina. Kannapolis specifically, I think.
Well that won't do you any good unless I list you as a friend, too, because my journal is locked. Guess that means I'll have to be obliging and open it up ;)
I was wondering about that. ike, since you already started a thread in there, I figured it would let you continue commenting. But meh, whateva. You're added again.
I stumbled across your LJ. Hope you don't mind me asking some questions. How is New Zealand as a vacationing spot in January? Is it very touristy lately due to Lord of the Rings? Are there lots of sites to see? I thought about going there for vacation. Thanks for your help.
January is seriously the best time to come and visit - gorgeous weather and plenty to do. The increased tourism from LotR hasn't been too bad - granted, there ARE idiots showing up at the Wellington Visitor's Centre asking where the Hobbits live, but there really hasn't been a pronounced change. Well, aside from the 4-day festival for the actual World Premier, but that's over with.
The sites to see are, well, they're there. Te Papa, Rotorua, Auckland (I must grudgingly admit), Waitangi... but really, the sites you want to see in NZ are the natural ones - Bay of Islands, Doubtful Sound, Fiordland, etc. And in January you'll get a chance to go to a cricket game - imagine baseball on valium ;).
Thanks for the information. Were you in the US Army? CU, huh? I have a friend there too. Anyways, I better get back to my "final" papers. *sigh* I need some excitement!
Yeah, I was in artillery a long time ago in a galaxy far far away...feels like it, at least. Now I'm a full-time economist for a foreign government - wonder what my old TAC Sgt. would say.

Found you through comments on Treees' journal, and saw you had Sluggy listed as an interest, so I really had no choice but to friend you. :D
