Yay! I mean, it’s a common plot device but how realistic is it? Most of the time it’s solved with a simple...hmmm I know this person well and this doesn’t really seem like them. :)

Yah. Like, "I know this person well enough to mash naughty bits with them, but I will now wilfully assume the very worst of this situation/this person, without even giving them a chance to explain, and I will be angry with them for as along as the Plot requires".... Ooooooh. Who do we know who set up a major character's motivation through seven books, using a G/PG-13 variant of this device? Hmm.

One of things that I reckon is true for the Hermione characterisation is she does forgive friends easily, not so much non-friends (sorry Marissa). I do enjoy when comparisons of that trait with Lily are drawn out. Heh.
