funny realization

I was just watching Tom & Jerry with Noah while we ate lunch... and I realized that Tom is owned by a black mammy character!

How did this escape me when I was little?

LOL

Are they still using her original voice? Because when the Cartoon Network was rerunning them, they re-dubbed her voice because they thought her original was too stereotypical and offensive. I was unpleasantly surprised.

I am not sure?!?! I think it wasn't her original voice, but I honestly don't remember what it truly sounded like from back in the day...

We were watching it on CN so...

wow.. that is startling news, and a sad commentary on the day and age we live in, isn't it?

She sounded just like Hattie McDaniel (a.k.a. Mammie) from Gone with the Wind. I guess that's considered too racially insensitive now.

*insert huge eye roll here*

Yet it is ok when friggin Daman Wayans does his white business man inpersonation... or more recently when the Wayans did the movie "white chicks"!?!?!

*rolls eyes again* I am gonna return to folding clothes before I begin to really sound racist!
