Oh man, Grace, now I'm all confused about what's true and what's not, haha. Well, whatever Alex says can be exempt because he (and Charlie) are obviously far superior to the average male, intellectually, emotionally, and grammatically (ahaha, couldn't help saying that, I love that movie too much). How about next time we see each other, we go and buy ice cream and forget all of this? It makes my head hurt.

the problem, though, is that then you end up with a bunch of "exempt" people and you have this rule that's always true except for these one zillion people.

Hate to say it, but I don't think those who are superior to the average male intellectually, emotionally and grammatically add up to a zillion.

Biologically, it makes sense. Guys try to have lots of sex to increase their chances of passing on genes. Girls pick and choose amongst the guys who make the best courtship displays.
I love seeing an entomologist apply principles of reproduction to our own species. :) I'd like to add that for mammals especially, females take a heck of a lot more energy to produce offspring, so they don't need to have as much sex to yield the same reproductive result. Which is why it makes sense for some mammals (and a lot of human cultures) to match one male up with lots of females: more efficient ( ... )
