Going Underground

I was surpised to hear this announcement on the tube yesterday:

'Due to a passenger under a train earlier in the day there are still delays on the Metropolitan Line in both directions'

There seems to be a spate of people under trains lately.. only yesterday services from my local station to London Bridge were cancelled because of "a passenger fatality" at Clapham Junction. And signal failures. And a fire alert. All a bit depressing really.

*blink* They tell you if people die? That's a bit morbid. Unless the announcer was having a bad day and thought "ha, I shall make hundreds of people feel uncomfortable about riding the tube today".

Have you seen V for Vendetta? That's got a coup d'etat on the tube!

Sometimes the announcers are v. nice though... like the tube driver I got on the East London Line the other night... "Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen, we shall shortly be arriving into New Cross Gate Station, may God bless you all and have a pleasant weekend."

It's also good when they're sarcastic, viz: "Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a District Line train for all stations to Upminster, we shall shortly be arriving at Earl's Court before progressing through the truly fabulous city of London. Enjoy the ride!"

And V for Vendetta ftw!

I'm sorry, I promise I'll stop spamming your boyfriend's journal!
