Well, I'm sure everyone has been on edge waiting for further news on my suddenly-very-expensive cat. As usually seems to happen with these things, last night's good news is followed by today's even worse news. He's more comfortable now that all that fluid is out of his lungs, but he's still got terrible renal function plus congestive heart

Ah, but we have a positive update- see above. We get to be optimistic until tomorrow.

Oh, yay -- infection is much better than organ failure! Erik gets periodic bursts of antibiotics (yeah, we're helping to make supergerm, but it's the least-bad thing we can do) to keep his chronic liver problems in check. The good news is that not all antibiotics are horribly expensive, and if this is acute then even if you get the pricey ones it won't be that bad. I mean, beats surgery...
