I never thought I'd see it in my lifetime. Yeah, the bill is lousy in many respects, but breaking through the enemy lines is a critical step toward winning the battle.
Doesn't it just seem like forever since we had some old-fashioned DEMOCRACY around here? All those ghastly things Bush did, he just DID, by executive privilege or whatever. Nothing as mundane as actually putting it to a vote in Congress... I'm loving this!
I clearly remember Bush getting laws passed the old fashioned way. Laws that varied between dumb and ghastly, and got bipartisan support. He also didn't get impeached, so I guess the legislature figured it wasn't so bad after all.
Interesting, thanks. I find it disturbing that 55% of the respondents think that Republicans are just trying to block Obama for a political agenda. Also interesting that, in general, more people are opposed to this bill than are for it. Also that, like 40% of people think it will change their current insurance that they have through work, when there's a lot of energy spend on Obama's part telling us that won't happen. I suppose it all depends on who you listen to.
Obama is lying on that one. Of course it will change things; and the sooner the employer-based insurance system dies the better. People should have the right to choose what health care they want, and not have it dictated by their bosses.
Why the democrats didn't get out and say this is beyond me.

When the opposing party pushes through unpopular policies using questionable political tactics, it's a ghastly abuse of our very system of government.
When our own party pushes through unpopular policies using questionable policial tactics, it's good old-fashioned democracy in action.
