Well, it's a week to go before taxes are due, so I've begun getting the necessary parts together. I use TurboTax, and I expect things to go pretty smoothly. Except that my old hard disk mostly-died this past fall. I rescued all the files in all my directories. Yeah, I had the same problem - last year's hard drive dead, no Turbotax files from 2008. I managed without last year's files, and this year I made sure to save the TT file to my external back up drive as well as the regular folder. But it did go pretty smoothly. Good luck!

Oh, and I had a printout of last year's forms, because I'm like that.

Hey, sweetie,

If you e-file, you might be able to suck out a .pdf of last year's returns from TurboTax itself, online. Try going to their site and on the right side (I think) there's a link to "access previous year's returns".

OK, that'll be my fallback. At the moment, I think I've found the old disk on the shelf and recovered the file intact. So that's a good thing.
