From CQ Press's annual State Crime Rankings for 2010. (States are ranked from worst to best. I only included the top 10. I beleive the numbers following the specific crimes represent ranks compared to other states, so NM is the second worst state for rape, the seventh worst for car theft, etc ( Read more... )

I share your lack of pride. :) However, I can also say that I do enjoy the badass, no-mans-land aspect of our state, too. Unfortunately, this sense of lawlessness probably` perpetuates the crime aspect.

NOOOOO! I disallow you to move to greener pastures and leave me in the desert wilderness. Unless, of course, it makes you happy. Then, by all means, go east, young woman. ;p Or, north I guess. Northeast? It all depends on where you want to end up...
