We used to have our phone through Comcast and once the grace period was over they starting jacking up the costs. It got to the point that we dropped the phone and just did a VoIP service through the high speed internet link.

Yes. Phone through Comcast is really expensive and doesn't include long distance. Annoying! Vonage and Lingo are good ways to get VOIP, and it's so cheap! We now pay half of what we paid for local service, for 500 minutes a month to anywhere in the country. For twenty-five dollars a month, instead of fifteen, it would be with unlimited calling.

Digital Voice is Comcast's version of Voice Over IP (VOIP) but setup as if it were a land line. I wouldn't recommend it, since if the poser goes out, so does the phone... (We have Comcast's older land line voice option. From when they bought out something else a few years ago, but they are trying to drive us to the Dig Voice, and have started making the payment options really bad.) We use Comcast for our TV and High Speed internet ( Porn had gotten us a good deal back when he worked there, and I haven't bothered to change. )
