regrouping... new plan of attack...
Ok, This can either be a really positive week for me, or it could be really fucking depressing.
I've been back for... um... almost a month now. Granted I did take a week off before I started looking for a job, but... shiiiiiit I'm getting scared.
I read an article online today that said that the job market for young people in chicago LAST year... was the worst it has been since WWII.... and this year is worse than last.
so lets make my dad an example (since he was middle management and is unemployed because he was laid off).
Lets say he looks for a job for a couple months, eventually he's going to start applying for jobs that he's overqualified for... and he'll get it. That displaces the person who was qualified for the job that my dad got... he'll look for a while and eventually apply for a job he's overqualified for... and it continues until you get to 20somethings with only a HS diploma and high school kids... and we get displaced... NO FUCKING JOBS. EVEN FOOD SERVICE JOBS ARE GOING TO BE TAKEN. I'm going nuts.
My ray of hope right now is tomorrow i'm heading to mount prospect to apply at ALDI. They are hiring for a couple burbs north of here, and they pay a little more than 11.50...
They do these hiring things like once a month, but i always seem to miss them, or find out about them a couple days after they happen... Is it a sign that i found out about this... hours before it was to occur? Please let it be a sign... PLEEEEEASE.
the plus side to the location (north west burbs) is that i probably won't NEED to know spanish... (where as in the city they want you to know either spanish or polish...) improves my chances? BAHHHH Cross your fingers that i make SOME sort of impression on the people...
If that fails... I'm planning on sharpening my typing skills and applying for various data entry jobs... god knows i have enough computer skills... i just need to improve my typing...
bah... if all of that fails... i don't really know what i'll do. I'm pretty much fucked... I don't really have a network at alll...
the cubs game today was fucking awesome! matt got upper level tickets for 46 bucks on ebay (46 total... not each...) in the 400 section on the first base side of the infield. Derek Lee hit a grand slam, the cubs spppppppanked the reds. it was grand.
Steph gets here on friday, at 5am... BAAAAAH the something corporate show is sold out to the max. fucking ghey. Maybe we can con some innocent kids out of tickets or something...
If anyone wants to hang out with us sometime between the 23rd and 29th give me a call and we'll do it.
