At least then you have a direction towards which you can veer, rather than floating around ambiguously and aimlessly.

Most of the best things in life were/are accidents, not life goals.
In your life or in general? "Best things in life" is a very subject term, I think.

I feel like you are arguing two completely different things. The first being that having goals doesn't necessarily lead to happiness. I never said that they would. A feeling of accomplishment may contribute to overall happiness but there are certainly other ways to get there.

The second being that a lot of innovations were accidents or coicidence/timing/chance. Fine, not disputing that (just to throw something out there, the structure of DNA wasn't one of those. People were trying to figure that one out for a while). But this is irrelevant to the first argument.

And the microwave, though a very useful thing, wouldn't not be on my list of Best Things in Life.

Ah... My beloved Samrin, I'm only dissapointed that "Make sweet love to Jon" wasn't on there.

when i saw that i was like "hmmmm...that sounds like sam" But something tells me, that sadly, he will never find a higher power that doesnt exist (however he could help find the God particle ie the Higgs Boson) and will also never find a soul, that doesnt exist. Silly medieval fairy tales used to keep the people under the iron fist of the all powerful religious governing body...how it found its way into our modern society, and how ppl still believe it is a mystery to me...

eh . . . while i agree that it's good to have goals, having completely unrealistic goals tends to set people up for disappointment, and that's not a good thing.

anyway, i miss my tala!
