At the bank,

At a grocery store,
“Enjoy the rest of your day”

At work,
“Thanks for your help”

At lunch,
“Enjoy your meal”
“YouToo”!?!?!
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I try to combat this terrible grammatical colloquialism by repeating “YouAsWell””YouAsWell””YouAsWell””YouAsWell” when I approach every drive thru teller, complete every meal, and make my final selections and head to the front of the store. It rarely works, and when it does the “YouAsWell” comes out so stuttery and strange it sounds worse than a sweet-tea-drawled “YuuuuuuuTewwwwww”.

Don’t misunderstand my intentions. I’m not trying to purge the geography out of my speech. I like the slight bur of southern dialect that creeps out of me when I drink… In San Francisco no one could tell I wasn’t from Cali, until they thanked me. “YouToo” always elicited a raised eyebrow and a smirk, “Where are you from, man” “Uh, Florida” “Ahhhh hah, I would have guessed SoCal…at first”!!!!!! Gross. I need heeeeelp.
