I just saw that Harmony Bites reced "Assuaging Insecurity" over at Know-it-Alls. Hooray!

You have a sable long-haired dachshund! I have a sable long-haired dachshund!

Aren't they beautiful and wonderful. Mine's Dino, The Wonder Dachshund. He's twelve and came to live with me when he was six. His family gave him up because he wasn't dealing well with children running in and out of the house and bringing kids in. We're living happily ever after.

How about you?

Your dog is beautiful!! That's such a nice photo. Mine is called Christopher, he's a year and a half, and I love him more than is healthy. Not only does he follow me from room to room and sit near my feet, he's super smart and friendly and gentle and cuddly and pretty much absolutely perfect in every way. :)

Dachshunds are so loyal. I've noticed that all of mine have tended to pick a favorite in the family and want to spend all their time with that person.

Christopher is beautiful. How young was he when you got him? Do you have any baby pictures of him you could post? I don't have any of Dino and wish I did.

Dino is a totally serious dachshund. He has absolutely no sense of play. I can't even get him to do tug of war. He will chase things, but only if it is something living and I think it is more out of hunting instinct than anything else. Dino is the enemy of squirrels everywhere. Anybody who jogs by the house or rides a bicycle kicks up that need to chase.

I don't dare let him be outside of the house without being on a leash, because he'd make terrible decisions about running and chasing.

Dino is very cuddly and loveable with immediate family, but anyone else risks getting a nip unless I assure him that it's okay.

I envy your dog being so young. You have a lot of years of joy ahead of you.

He was four months when we got him. We're pretty bad at taking photos of him, but I do know we took a couple when we first brought him home; I'll have a look and see if I can find them (I think they might be on the other computer).

All the nearby parks are off-leash before nine a.m. and I try to take Christopher a couple of times a week. He loves to run and I did a lot of work to be sure he comes when he's called. These days he'll "stop" and "come" when told to, even if there's another dog around. It's one of my favourite things to walk through the park with him gamboling around me.

I also trained him to ring a bell by the door when he needs to go outside and do his business. :)

I'm so crazy about him; I could talk about him forever!
