Our model canceled on us last night at the Anatomy Drawing Group I go to. I was finally in the mood to draw too, after a couple weeks of no drawing mojo. I was getting ready to pack up and leave when one of the people who run it offered to sit in. He sat clothed for all the warm ups, but when it came to the last long pose of the night (same pose ( Read more... )

The model was totally cool about it too after he took off his shirt. I think I captured some of his ease in my drawing.

There were 3 other guys in the group and they didn't say a word. Only the women were speaking up.
Dumb mean girls. LOL
I know they were just trying to be nice, but that sure gets in the way of life sometimes. :P

That was almost a sermon, my friend, and if I could jump to my feet and holler, "Amen!", I would.

Go Grimmy! I agree with you 100%. Small-minded people who can't see beauty outside their own Gucci bags piss me off. I would rather draw an overweight person than a skinny person, but I wouldn't insult either of them by asking them to keep their clothes on.

Die. Verse. Uh. Tee.

That said, I enjoyed seeing your take on a clothed model. I love the ones where you focused mainly on his shirt.

I think they were more nervous for him. Which was sweet, but still, let the brother take the spotlight for once, ya know? It's OK.

At least he wasn't hairy! Or at least you didn't draw him that way! ;)

Didn't draw the hair. I would have needed another 20 mins. He had some belly hair alright.

I think your drawings are excellent. I can really imagine what he looks like in person and he has an intelligent look about him in an ordinary-Joe sort of way.

I can't imagine why those women wouldn't draw him. Come on, how can you ever get a realistic style without experimenting with all body types?

I think they actually saw that he wasn't nervous about it after I acknowledged it. Everyone was on the same page after that, or make that same pad as in drawing pad.
