I've never been so confused and intrigued about a series. Is each book stand alone or do you have to read through from the first to the last?

Some books are stand-alone, some are organized into triads or quartets. There are a number of good entry points, notably the first volume WILD CARDS and volume 18 INSIDE STRAIGHT. But the new one stands alone pretty well.

Considering there are so many great contributors right from the beginning, WILD CARDS seems like the best place to start...

Thanks.

The new covers are so consistently good pulvatory December 11 2017, 12:25:31 UTC
Michael Komarck keeps outdoing himself. "Down and Dirty"'s new cover is stellar.

But I think the cover for "Mississippi Roll" is the best thing he's ever done.

You and the other Wild Card players are all very fortunate, Mr. Martin!

Komarck is indeed a spectacular artist -- long overdue for another Hugo nomination -- but he did not do the cover for MISSISSIPPI ROLL.

That one was the work of Bastien Lecouffe Deharme.

Sorry if you have answered this before, only found out about Wild Cards recently. So it's collaborated on by multiple authors and then you edit it? Is it like, they each write a different chapter of one continuous story, and you edit for clarity, or is it something else?

Yes, more or less.

I do write for the series as well, though more in the beginning than recently.
