What you should really be concerned about is that bugs might crawl across you while you are sleeping in lay eggs in your orifices.

Or scorpions might start hiding in your boots.

I'll never be objective about this. Look I realize that insects are important for biodiversity and that they were here first, but let me say for myself that a male-of-center androgynous look doesn't guarantee any bravery in this regard.

Maybe it startled you? There's a difference between "oh look, a bug," and "OMG GIANT HAIRY SHELOB-LIKE SPIDER JUST CRAWLED OUT OF THAT BACKPACK!"
Alternately, perhaps you've had too much caffeine and that's what's causing the jitters? Yeah, that's a good excuse...

Bingo. It's one thing to see a bug prancing about in their own little piece of bark. It's when one crawls out of something YOU own and goes "Dude, I sorta crashed here... Damn man I TOTALLY don't remember entire chunks of last night! I think I may have laid eggs or vomitted or some shit in your ipod... man... you gotta dead animal I can munch on?"
