Okay, deladejavoo and I need to find out who is in the minority here (mostly, because I find this discussion truly fascinating... much like most conversations that deal with human behaviour). So yes, please discuss your answers :)

P.S. I'm feeling to stupid to figure out how to alter the text of the poll without an excessive amount of work, so let's go ( Read more... )

Yes a blanket is essential! I can't sleep comfortably without one, preferably the softer and heavier the better. I usually sleep with a comforter over me.

Even in the summer I still sleep with one, (we have air conditioning though) but if it's too hot, I'll sleep with it covering just part of me.

I don't really need my whole body covered, but the feet MUST be covered. Sheet, socks, *something* or there will be no sleep!

Oh, wow. I'm the complete opposite. I generally have something at least across my chest, but my feet? NEVER!

I have a huge phobia of not being able to move my legs. If, during the night, my feet get tangled up in my blanket and restrict my mobility, I will wake up violently kicking and writhing until free. Which may explain why I generally sleep alone.... :-)

P.S. I'm feeling to stupid to figure out how to alter the text of the poll without an excessive amount of work, so let's go ahead and acknowledge that blanket = Blanket/sheet/fabric covering.

y'know, when you put it that way, fabric covering could just = clothes.
which is a whole other poll about sleeping nekkid. because there are some who can't imagine doing so, some who dabble, others who prefer it, and then i imagine there are those who HAVE to sleep in their birthday suit, which makes me wonder what they do when visiting people and what then happens to their sleep cycle if they do don jammies.

Mmmm... I don't know - I think of a "fabric covering" as being... ya know... a cover (especially when lumped with the words blanket and sheet). Clothes would be clothes. Now while the need for clothes/bed clothes is an interesting discussion (especially, oh let's just randomly throw out the concept of sleeping with one's socks on) it is not the current discussion at hand. Feel free to make your own poll, though!

Hrm.... I answered no, though I generally do. I don't know as I /prefer/ it, but it is how I normally sleep. Hrm.... maybe my answer should have been 2.

Do cats count as blankets? ;)

And if you think I'm joking (well I am, but there's truth to it) as a kid I would LEAP from the lightswitch to my bed and quickly jump under the covers and mentally project a forcefield around my body that no monster could invade.

LEAP

Seriously. Basketball players would envy the distances I would cross in a single bound.

Yeah, I did that too! It was like I actually thought that if I tried hard enough I could BEAT THE LIGHT, by being super fast whilst hopping into my bed. I think this practice ended when I overestimated the area that my bed was in, and slammed myself directly into the wall next on the other side of my bed.

That was horrible! Not only was I stunned and in pain, but I was ALSO open to all monster attacks!
