The house looked the same as it always did.

Sally was an excellent housekeeper, not that she had to be, seeing as he was always willing to help her out, and it was obvious in how immaculate their home always looked.  The floors were always polished, not a dish was left in the sink, and even the walls looked like they'd been scrubbed down.  He knew ( Read more... )

Sally was beyond thrilled to be going out. Things had been so hectic lately, and frankly, Linus had been acting a little off the last few weeks. She reached over to link her arm with his, smiling over at him as they walked through the Commons. It was one of her favorite places to go and she blew out a breath as they neared the waterfront. It was always pretty there, and it never failed to lift her spirits. Hopefully, today she'd manage to talk Linus into going on one of the pretty little swan boats.

'Then again', she thought, 'I've been trying for years...' She grinned and shrugged mentally. Sally had never given up on anything that she truly wanted...she wasn't about to start now.

"Dinner was really nice," she said cheerfully as she looked over at Linus. "I'm glad we went out tonight."

"Me too," he answered, pulling her a little closer. It really had been a while since they had the same schedule. He knew Sally loved her job, but damn if shift work didn't make it hard to plan anything. Thankfully, today had worked out almost exactly how he'd planned.

Linus caught her wistful glare and even though he groaned while doing it, he asked her if she wanted to ride on those boats. He just hoped she didn't want a picture or anything, because he would never live this down.

He just wanted today to work out perfectly. "So what do you say," he asked, leading her down to the dock. "Swans are...cool.."

Sally nearly tripped over her strappy white heels when Linus's words sunk in. She looked over at him, her eyes wide. "Really?" She had absolutely no clue what on earth made him change his mind after all these years, but she wasn't missing the opportunity. "They're awesome! And, you're awesome. Hee!" Beaming, she stepped toward the boats and held carefully onto Linus as she stepped on board.

As she sat down in the gently swaying boat, she wondered just what was going on with Linus. There was obviously something he was up to. Sally hoped he wouldn't make her wait too long to find out. Glancing around, she spotted one of the boat workers holding a camera and smiled brightly, patting Linus' arm. "Look! They'll take our picture! We can totally have it framed."

He froze a little at that, and gave her an awkward smile.

"How about not right now? I mean, maybe later and all but you know, let's enjoy the moment?"

Yes, he was rambling, but he had no idea what he was doing. "I just want to spend some time with you and not have to worry about a camera flash or anything."
