Question about the answering machine

For many this question will sound odd, but I need this info for the drabble I plan to write

When it's a cell phone, the answering machine can last however long you want it to. But if it's a land line, I think it depends on the machine. I know the one my parents have lasts about three minutes while my best friend has one that lasts thirty seconds and my old athletic's director had one that lasted five minutes.

I would recommend calling your land line on your cell phone and recording how long it takes for the answering machine to click you off.

In my drabble I planned for the answering machine to record the message for a minute or two. Judging by what you told me, my drabble would sound realistic in this aspect.
