So I did indeed find a place in Denver, and I'm now scheduled to move on September 30.
Roommate-to-be, mom, and I viewed places on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, and we ended up circling back to the first place we saw (really the only reasonable choice we saw that day). It's a two-bedroom house in uptown, about a half block from Hamburger Mary's and thus staggering distance from JRs and The Wrangler. It's also super convenient to Market Street Station (the "Transbay Terminal" of Denver) which was omg-important for me.
The property has just been entirely renovated -- the owners inherited it from the wife's brother, and they plan eventually to live in the property themselves, so all of the choices made during renovations were with that in mind. That is to say, super high-end appliances, etc. As we were touring it, and I was mopping up my drool from the beauty of the hardwood floors, I noticed an Internet Librarian bag and exclaimed about it -- and, yes, the wife is a web librarian with Douglas County, which I think really sealed us as the future tenants. Not only were we both CU faculty, but I was a librarian. Win-win.
I'm over halfway packed, as if that surprises anyone.
And so it will be that only
zimzat and my mom will have visited my temporary housing digs. Six months in Boulder and only two visitors. Clearly I've lost my touch! :p
