Rice, ask around your coworkers and see who they recommend. Also, this dentist's conduct was unprofessional. I would contact the state dental board in Colorado and let them know of his behavior. A call to the Better Business Bureau wouldn't hurt either.

Ouch! I had a dentist a few years ago who was always trying to get me to crown several teeth she felt needed them. Now I work for a company with an excellent dental plan and go to Gentle Dental. I've had one "coronation" and it's the only one of the several I've got that hasn't created issues after it was placed and they haven't even mentioned crowning any of the teeth the other (private) dentist suggested. I figure she was only trying to generate income.

He laughed? Oh HELL no... That is totally inappropriate, and I hope you report him for his behavior.

I'm sorry you had such a painful experience :( I hope that it's corrected in a much more bearable fashion soon. *hugs*

After a seriously messed up dental visit to get a root canal (not enough novocaine, then the jerk shot morphine or something similar directly into the tooth - I sat in the waiting room for hours, madly hallucinating while watching Alice in Wonderland on the TV, waiting until I was sober enough to drive), I now have a discussion with every dentist on the 1st appointment. The basic conversation is this: "You hurt me, I hurt you. You get 1 freebie because you don't understand my thresh hold for pain. After the freebie baseline establishment, the equal hurt rule is in place. And believe me, you may be sitting above and over my face, but my hands are free to move about quickly and with intent. Oh, by the way, were you planning on having any children in the future? If so, I expect you to never hurt me ( ... )
